Tumtum Tree

Tumtum Tree is a robotic pot-plant, actively maximizing the photosynthesis of your beloved little plant by tilting it toward the sunniest direction. I suppose, in version 2.0, it might also twitter about the plant's dull existence.

I am not certain if the plant will absorb enough CO2 to offset the robot's carbon footprint.

The name is derived from Lewis Carroll's absurb poem Jabberwocky.

So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

It is part of my graduate thesis Nature and Machine, shown at the Royal College of Art Show in 2001.

P.S. The poor plant withered away after the show.
